The first act of Gordon Herbert's cinematic era took place on September 18, 2022, in Berlin: Germany wins bronze at the European Championships on home soil! An epic sports drama with the perfect cast, directed by Gordon Herbert, basketball architect and director.
The painting “Role Play” pays tribute to exactly what made this team stand out: every player knew their role – and performed it to perfection. Herbert himself is at the center – more than just a coach on the sidelines. Because he was the system, the timekeeper, the screenwriter. The names of the squad are incorporated into the work, each with the role they played in contributing to the success. And of course, the legendary locker room photo with the bronze medal is not missing – the moment when German basketball was ablaze with euphoria.
But this was only the beginning. It is the story of a team that has dedicated itself entirely to a vision – and is now turning it into reality.
